Phonics and simple reading and writing are taught through games, and children are taught to write with a purpose. An example of this is using a monkey who visited the pod while the children had gone home, leaving behind banana peels. Then the monkey left them a note saying he enjoyed visiting their pod and playing with their toys. The children could only communicate back via notes, and the writing was fun, elevated, and exciting.
We challenge our kids through various STEM activities. Students learn creative problem solving and practice the engineering design process. Thinking brains can access their imaginations while building structures, devices, and vehicles that will meet the design challenges presented, such as holding the most weight or span the furthest distance or withstand an earthquake.
